Frequently asked questions

In Steinbourg, Mars Wrigley measured the physical and cardiovascular demands on its company firefighters. The site's occupational health nurses, trained to use the MOTEN solution, equipped five volunteers during an exercise. The result: adjusted medical monitoring, a personalised training programme and an updated risk assessment.

Company firefighters, guardians of employee and site safety

Mars Wrigley, a world leader in confectionery and ice-cream bars, places great importance on safety at its Steinbourg site. This plant, the group's only ice-cream factory in Europe, has set up a second-response team of trained volunteer employees to handle fire safety and emergencies until specialised emergency services arrive.

However, the role of company firefighter exposes these employees to intense physical and physiological effort. To assess these demands precisely and improve the monitoring of their health, Mars Wrigley chose to work with MOTEN Technologies.

An innovative approach to assessing occupational risks

The site's occupational health nurses were trained to use the MOTEN solution independently. This measurement tool analyses employees' muscular effort and heart activity. Five volunteers were equipped during a realistic simulation exercise to collect precise data on the physiological demands involved.

The study had two objectives:

  • quantify the physical and cardiovascular demands on volunteer firefighters;
  • adapt their medical monitoring to the risks identified.

Concrete results for better prevention

The analyses identified three types of situations requiring preventive action. Thanks to the objective data collected:

  • the occupational physician adjusted the health monitoring of company firefighters to better reflect their exposure to risks;
  • employees were made aware of the demands of their role and now follow a personalised training programme to build their cardiovascular endurance;
  • the employer updated its occupational risk assessment document, supported by enhanced regulatory monitoring.

Client testimonial: an effective tool for occupational health

“MOTEN's MMG software can be integrated into a dedicated occupational health system, making it easier to collect and analyse data for the occupational health service.” Guilhem Landry, occupational health nurse

By integrating the MOTEN solution into its prevention processes, Mars Wrigley demonstrates its commitment to the safety and well-being of its employees.
